The Heart of all Student Life

Talley Student Union is the vibrant heart of NC State, serving as a dynamic hub for student life, collaboration and community engagement. Spanning approximately 290,000 square feet, the facility boasts a grand ballroom accommodating up to 1,200 guests, a variety of dining options, lounges, meeting venues, recreational areas and student organization offices. 

The union also houses a two-level NC State Bookstore and offers advanced technology to support student needs. Originally opened in 1972 and extensively renovated between 2011 and 2015, Talley Student Union honors the legacy of former Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Banks C. Talley, who played a pivotal role in merging NC State’s agricultural and engineering history with the arts.

The building is named for Banks C. Talley, a former vice chancellor of student affairs whose leadership helped shape the student experience at NC State.
