Plant Sciences Building
Advancing Innovation Through Research
The Plant Sciences Building on Centennial Campus is the centerpiece of the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative, designed to bring together agriculture, life sciences, engineering and industry in one space.
At five stories and 185,000 square feet, the facility features advanced labs, collaborative workspaces and rooftop greenhouses that support cutting-edge research in food security, sustainability and environmental resilience. Its LEED Gold certification reflects NC State’s commitment to sustainable design.
Inside, the building includes flexible labs and shared technology cores like the Genomic Sciences Laboratory and the Cellular and Molecular Imaging Facility, while the rooftop greenhouses provide over 10,000 square feet of growth space. With public engagement areas, seminar rooms and demonstration labs on the ground floor, the building is both a research hub and a community resource, connecting students, faculty, partners and visitors in the spirit of innovation.
