for the Pack
For the longest time, Carter-Finley Stadium was a dream. Now, it’s the perfect home for almost 60,000 NC State fans.
In its 50 years of existence, Carter-Finley Stadium (with a capacity of 58,000) has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting venues in college football, mainly due to the dedication of Wolfpack fans.
The design engineer for the stadium was an NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences graduate and former civil engineering instructor, L.E. Wooten, who owned one of Raleigh’s biggest engineering firms. He hired late NC State College of Design professor Charles H. Kahn as one of the primary designers.
