3D Tour Description
Talley Student Union serves as NC State’s central hub for student life, bringing together dining, retail, meeting spaces and informal gathering areas within a large, multi-level building. The interior is designed to support both high foot traffic and flexible use, with open sightlines, modern finishes and a strong emphasis on natural light.
At the center of the building is a large, multi-story atrium that acts as the main gathering space. This area features high ceilings, multiple balcony levels and wide, open floor space supported by large columns. Floor-to-ceiling windows and glass entrances allow natural light to fill the space and provide views of the surrounding campus. Seating is distributed throughout the atrium and adjacent areas, including lounge chairs, tables and open floor seating that can accommodate both individuals and groups.
Upper levels overlook the central atrium, with glass railings and open walkways that maintain visibility across floors. A prominent vertical architectural feature made of wood slats extends through multiple levels, adding texture and visual interest while reinforcing the building’s open, connected design.
Talley also includes a variety of dining spaces, ranging from quick-service counters to larger seating areas with a mix of table types. These spaces feature durable flooring, bright lighting and a combination of booth, table and bar-style seating. Large windows line some dining areas, offering additional natural light and exterior views.
Retail space within the building includes a campus bookstore that sells clothing, gifts and school supplies.
Additional corridors and gathering spaces connect to meeting rooms and event areas, including the ballrooms. These transitional spaces feature consistent wayfinding, accessible pathways and a mix of carpet and tile flooring, supporting movement between quieter lounges and more active, high-traffic areas.
